Clinical Sciences related to Thalassaemia

This module provides the information necessary for the student to gain a comprehensive knowledge of thalassaemia.

On completion of this module students will:

1. have a comprehensive understanding of the diagnosis, clinical presentation, pathophysiology, and key management issues in both beta and alpha thalassaemia including blood transfusion and chelation.

2. be familiar with routine laboratory techniques in molecular biology, and radiological investigation to diagnosis and management of common complications of thalassaemia.
